La Cabaña

La Cabaña is one of seven farms of the large Hacienda Tausavita, which boasted 8,000 acres around the year 1700. Built in 1750, it has a place in the country’s independence history. It has been the property of a traditional family for about two hundred and fifty years and remains as one of the oldest and best maintained colonial central courtyard houses that still exist of the cundiboyacence highlands. As a curiosity, the house was built in 150 days so the head of family Dr. Benigno Barreto and his lady Carmen Venegas could stay there and spent their last days enjoying the peace and tranquility of the beautiful region. Today, it still features the character of a colonial hacienda and a select rural hotel.

La Cabaña es una finca que hizo parte de la famosa Hacienda Tausavita. Construida en 1750, fue lugar en la historia independentista del país. Es una de las casas coloniales con patio central más antiguas y mejor mantenidas en todo el altiplano cundiboyacence. Fue construida en 150 días para que la cabeza de la familia del Dr. Benigno Barreto Cuervo y su señora Carmen Venegas pudiera alojarse y pasar sus últimos días disfrutando de la paz y tranquilidad de un hermoso lugar. Hoy, ofrece el carácter de una hacienda colonial convertida en selecto hotel rural.
